LIBERATUM ‘WOMEN IN CREATIVITY’ GALA AT THE VENICE FILM FESTIVAL 2024

This September, to celebrate the art of filmmaking and storytelling at the Venice Film Festival, Liberatum will host a special ‘Women in Creativity’ event and gala dinner where we will champion artists, filmmakers and actresses – as part of the Liberatum Women in Creativity series established more than a decade ago. This spectacular cultural celebration will convene eminent cultural minds and creative figures highlighting the contribution of women creators and filmmakers.

At the gala celebration in Venice, the Liberatum Pioneer Award will be presented to an acclaimed artist from the world of cinema for advancing society forward through art. Last year, the Pioneer Award was presented to the North American actress Angela Bassett and the Brazilian anthropologist and activist Ivete Sacramento.

Liberatum is a passionate supporter and promoter of women’s rights and equal pay for women. Defending women and their important causes are paramount to our organization. Championing women in leadership and women’s freedom to express themselves is a role we take seriously. We created the first ever Women’s Rights Conference in Papua New Guinea in 2003, more than twenty years ago.

Liberatum has produced an exceptional cultural programme worldwide celebrating creative women, their talents, stories and their artistic gifts through the Liberatum “Women in Creativity” series. Participants in India, Mexico, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom have included Hilary Swank, Susan Sarandon, Nicole Kidman, Victoria Beckham, Karolina Kurkova and Courtney Love.
