Sir Salman Rushdie is one of the greatest cultural voices of our time. For a quarter of a century, Liberatum has stood as a champion of cultural diplomacy, creativity, and global dialogue. Honouring Sir Salman, a novelist whose work resonates globally, will be a defining moment of Liberatum’s 25th anniversary celebrations in London on 8th July 2026 in partnership with Town Hall by Bottaccio.

Liberatum and Town Hall will pay tribute to Sir Salman’s profound role as a champion of freedom of expression and to his remarkable literary achievements, honouring the full breadth of his life’s work.

The Liberatum Cultural Honour will also celebrate his enduring contributions to fostering cultural understanding across the world.


Salman Rushdie is the best-selling author of 23 books, including Midnight’s Children (for which he won the Booker Prize and the Best of the Booker), Shame, The Satanic Verses, The Moor’s Last Sigh, and Quichotte, all of which have been shortlisted for the Booker Prize; his most recent book, The Eleventh Hour: A Quintet of Stories; two memoirs, Joseph Anton and Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder; a work of reportage, The Jaguar Smile; and three collections of essays, including Languages of Truth. His work has been translated into over 40 languages.
